What is the role of the Board of Trustees:

All of New Zealand’s state and state-integrated schools have a board of trustees. The board of trustees is the Crown entity responsible for the governance and the control of the management of the school.

The board is the employer of all staff in the school, is responsible for setting the school’s strategic direction in consultation with parents, staff and students, and ensuring that its school provides a safe environment and quality education for all its students.

Boards are also responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration.

Currently there are seven Trustees on the Lemonwood Grove School Board. Trustees meet each month on Wednesdays at 6:00pm in the large meeting room in the reception area.

Members of the school community are welcome are attend the non public excluded part of meetings. If you would like to attend a meeting, please contact the Board Chairperson.

Drew Winter
Chairperson. Responsibility: Documentation and Self Review

Drew is a parent of two learners at Lemonwood Grove School |Te Uru Tarata.  He served on the establishment board of trustees prior to the school opening and has continued to serve since the first parent elected board of trustees.  Drew currently serves as the boards chairperson working with the board to ensure that all of the schools values and beliefs are upheld to the highest standard.

Outside of the board Drew works as a Business Systems Analyst in the Canterbury District Health Board business intelligence team.

Sean Bailey
Hayley Stirling
Responsibilities: Deputy Chairperson, Cultural Responsiveness

Hayley is serving a second term on the LWG BOT. She and her husband Lee have two children who attend LWG - one a foundation student.

Hayley currently works as a training consultant at Toolkit Training (Odyssey House).  This service delivers drug education across Canterbury to a range of organisations and services.  Prior to this she has worked in a variety of roles across Corrections. Hayley has a commitment to supporting the development of enriched connections both within and beyond the school gate in order to ensure our learners have the best possible experience of school.  Those links allows our whānau and broader community to have a common interest and those connections are really important for everyones wellbeing.

Rebecca Congalton
Responsibility: Finance

Rebecca is a parent of two children at Lemonwood Grove School; this is her first time serving on a school board.  She currently works as a Session Facilitator and Adult Education Facilitator for Playcentre Aotearoa. Prior to this, she worked as a Business Analyst and Product Specialist.  Rebecca is looking forward to contributing to the Board’s work at Lemonwood Grove School.

Jane Hansford
Responsibility: Health and Safety

Jane is in her second term of being a member of the LWG Board of Trustees.

Jane and her husband Fred have two children who both attend the school.

Professionally, she is an Occupational Therapist who has been practicing for 20 years.  Her career has seen her work across both physical rehabilitation and mental health sectors.  Currently, she is a Regional Manager for a large integrated health provider.  

Jane’s driver for being on the  Board of Trustees is to support the school with ensuring the health and wellbeing of all learners and staff at Lemonwood Grove.

Michael Croucher
Responsibility: Property

Michael is serving his second term on the Lemonwood Grove School Board of Trustees and is currently responsible for managing the school property portfolio.  Being a board member has allowed Michael to be actively involved in shaping the schools growth and strategic direction. He strives to make the school the best that it can be for its learners and staff.

Michael and his wife Tania have three children attending the school, a boy and two girls.  Their eldest was a foundation student of the school and their youngest started as a new entrant in 2019.

Professionally Michael is a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor who is currently responsible for the management of Christchurch City Council’s Legal Survey Team.

Anna Graham
Staff Representitive

Anna is in her first term of being a board member, she is the LWG staff rep. Anna teaches in the Kererū learning landscape and has been at LWG since the beginning of 2018. She lives in Faringdon with her fiancé Travis. Anna will most likely be seen on or around netball courts!
